History
 at a meeting of representatives from design, construction and research organizations was established All-Union Association of tunnel builders, who later became the Tunnel Association of Russia. As initiators of creation of Association have acted: Transstroy Corporation, Mosmetrostroy, Mosinzhstroy, Lenmetrostroy, Gidrospetsstroy, Transinzhstroy, Bamtonnelstroy, Spetstonnelstroy (Leningrad), Tonnelstroy (Tula), and a number of design institutes: Metrogiprotrans, Lenmetrogiprotrans, Mosinzhprojekt, Leninzhproekt, Gidrospetsproekt. The main purpose of the Tunnel Association of Russia is to introduce the practice of building new technologies, designs and materials, efficiency and quality of design, construction and operation of underground facilities.
